Anna Matsuoka is a pianist based in both Tokyo and New York City. Born in Tokyo, Japan, Anna began her piano studies at the age of two and half and began composing at age four. She has studied classical music piano at Toho Gakuen Music High School, Toho Gakuen School of Music College with post-graduate coursework in Tokyo. 

 
    After her studies in Japan, she redirected her musical focus from classical music to jazz. She moved to New York City, and after studying classical piano at The Juilliard School, she was awarded a scholarship by The New School of Jazz and Contemporary Music.

    She is the recipient of the 1st Prize plus the Chinese Consulate in Osaka Award from the 15th Choko Cup International Music Competition, a 1st Prize (Gold Award) winner of the 5th Italian Concorso MusicaArte Competition for Graduate Students, 1st Prize in 2014 Japan Piano Audition Competition Special Category, 1st Prize in the 12th 21st Century Piano Competition Solo Category, as well as Awards from many prestigious competitions and institutions.

    During her tenure as a classical pianist, she was chosen as a soloist to perform Ravel's Piano Concerto in G Major in a joint orchestra by Toho Gakuen School of Music and the Tokyo University of the Arts. She organized and conducted a debut concert presented by Toho Gakuen School of Music at Suntory Hall and she performed too. She was also elected to a public master class of Seymour Bernstein at the Juilliard school.

    Now, Anna devotes an active performance career in various music genres, such as classical music, jazz, funk, and pops.
